Projects and milestones
A project groups related tasks under a team. It’s the level above individual tasks — useful for anything that spans more than a handful of to-dos.
Creating a project
Section titled “Creating a project”Select New project, then choose the workspace and team it belongs to and give it a name. That’s all you need to create it — you can add a description, lead, and dates afterward from the project itself.
Project statuses
Section titled “Project statuses”Every project has a status, such as Backlog, Planned, In Progress, Completed, or Canceled. A workspace admin can customize the exact set of statuses — their names, colors, and order — from Settings → Projects → Statuses. Each custom status still belongs to one of those underlying stages, so automation and reporting keep working even if you rename them.
Milestones
Section titled “Milestones”Milestones mark meaningful checkpoints within a project — a name, an optional description, and a target date. Add tasks to a milestone from the task itself, and the milestone’s progress updates automatically as tasks on it are completed.
Project labels
Section titled “Project labels”Projects have their own labels, separate from the labels you apply to tasks. Use them to tag or categorize projects — for example, by initiative or team. A workspace admin manages the available project labels from Settings → Projects → Labels.
Updates and update schedules
Section titled “Updates and update schedules”A project update is a short post to a project’s activity feed: a status line (On track, At risk, or Off track) plus a written note. Anyone with access to the project can post one from the project’s overview page.
A workspace admin can turn on update schedules from Settings → Projects → Updates — a reminder that nudges the project lead to post an update on a set cadence (weekly, every other week, or monthly, on a chosen day, time, and timezone). It’s a reminder, not an automatic update — someone still has to write it.
Project settings
Section titled “Project settings”Each project has a Settings tab with two toggles:
- Time-scoped tasks — off by default. Turn it on to give tasks in this project a start and end time, calendar-event style, instead of just a due date.
- Cost tracking — set to Inherit (the workspace default), On, or Off. When it’s on for a project, tasks in that project get cost fields for tracking hours or money spent, and the project gets a cost categories panel for organizing that spend. Cost tracking is opt-in per project — it isn’t turned on for every project by default.
